Strategic Operations Unit 111 (SOU-111) is a part of STARFLEET Strategic Operations and serves as a Strategic Operations Sea, Air, Land and Space (SEALS) unit.

The STARFLEET Office of Strategic Operations is an all-volunteer force, drawn from both STARFLEET and Starfleet Marine Corps, with many of its Operatives being combat veterans or experienced Intelligence agents or analysts. Operatives of the Strategic Operations Command take great pride in being part of their organization, and often have a friendly rivalry with the SFMC. Strategic Operations units are trained to get in silently, carry out the task, and get out without being seen, and as such, they are rarely in the thick of the fight, but rather are somewhere off to the side, providing targeting information, or providing damage assessments after a strike.

Each SpecOps Operative is chosen for his intelligence, ability to work alone or in a team, his cool under fire, and the ability to get the job done, no matter what the cost.

Since Strategic Operations missions often take place outside the Federation, or at hotspots inside the Federation, in which the SFMC is considered overkill, the ability to blend in and a proficiency with languages is desired. The typical SpecOps Operative is highly intelligent, physically fit, and is endowed with above average survival and weapons skills.

The STARFLEET Strategic Operations Sea, Air, Land and Space forces, commonly known as the SFSO SEALs, is a Strategic Operations Force (SOF) that can be employed in direct action and special reconnaissance operations. SEALs are also capable of employing unconventional warfare, foreign internal defense, counter-terrorism, and other missions.
